詹姆斯·米尔斯, 如图所示, works at Pfizer on crystallisation, and Stephanie McLaren works at pharmaceutical organisation Recipharm. Both are BSc Chemistry degree apprentice students.
“Apprenticeships 从er you a good opportunity to gain a qualification,” said James. “You learn the same as with full-time education – but you also get invaluable workplace 经验.”
For Stephanie, it is the lecturers who make the university special.
She said: “Lecturers go out of their way to 支持 and help students. They have been able to provide extra revision classes and extra studying resources.
“I realised I wanted to dedicate my studies to Chemistry when I realised how broad the subject is and how versatile the applications of a chemistry degree can be.”
Stephanie adds that an interest in science, 技术, 工程, and mathematics (STEM) is something that should be something encouraged at an early age, which might mean more women will be inspired to pursue STEM degrees and careers in the future.
Digital and Technology Solutions apprentice Bradley Watts combines his work at Ford with study at Greenwich.
Bradley works four days a week as a Software Engineer at Ford, which allows him to put into practice the knowledge he gains from his course.
He said: “Greenwich stands out from other universities because of the passion the lecturers have for their modules. They teach in ways that engage the class.”
Higher and degree 学徒制 are a great way to learn, 结合实际, hands-on 经验 and splitting time between university and work.
New 学徒制 are suitable for school leavers looking for alternative routes towards a degree, as well as employees looking to progress in their careers.
National Apprenticeship Week 2022 is the 15th annual week-long celebration of 学徒制.
